This course provides students with an introduction to the techniques of troubleshooting electrical problems on the ES44AC locomotive. The main objective of this course is to provide students the opportunity to analyze and to repair electrical faults on the locomotive. The problems are related to the modules taught, so they also reinforce the understanding of the systems and processes. Secondary objectives include introducing the students to various test tools, such as volt meters, micro ohm meters, manometers, and mechanical pressure gauges; showing them how to use the tools; and giving them a chance to do so.Also, to familiarize attendees with the use of the electrical schematic and analytic data that is provided by GE concerning faults that exist on a locomotive, e.g.Smart Display Data, Self-tests, and Fault Analysis Manuals.
